One of the biggest things of the 4-Slice Long Slot is its use of a motorized lift instead of a traditional lever that will automatically lift your food up when finished toasting. The 4-slice is quiet and smooth with controls that are simple and easy to use. A great feature is the ability to see if how cooked your toast is and then automatically lower it back down to complete the toasting cycle. It also has long slots which are perfect for foods of longer length than a standard toaster. This toaster uses sound that can adjusted from high, low and mute to alert you when your toast is done. Finally it has a nice stainless steel finish to look good anywhere you place it in your kitchen.
One of the larger problems of the 4-slice is the automatic lever stop working despite unplugging and re plugging the cord. The problem has to due with the electric controls and should be sent to Breville if this happens with the warranty. The toasting can be uneven at times or in rarer cases it won’t heat up one side at all. Finally there are the rarer cases of the 4-slice randomly stop working but we did not experience this during our experiences and it seems to have only happened to a few people.
The Breville Die-Cast 4-Slice Long Slot Smart Toaster is a decent toaster that has many great features and few large flaws that hold it back from being great. Most who use the 4-slice never experienced its bigger problems but for its price these types of problems shouldn’t exist. It’s pricing is decent but better toasters can be found around that price range but we still recommend the 4-slice if you’re a fan of Breville made products.
